About the artist:
Englishman Edwin Bode (1859-1926) emigrated to Australia in 1882 as a 22-year-old self-taught artist, acclimatising quickly to and finding great painterly inspiration in his new surrounds of the Gold Coast hinterland. Bode worked as a labourer in the community, and would travel in his spare time painting homesteads and geographic landmarks, capturing the turn of the century history of the region.
